"Snooty's Hieroglyphics" assemblage sculpture

I made these hieroglyphics while thinking about my cat Snooty, who passed away about 10 years ago.

Snooty was fluffy and black, but he wasn't anything like a normal cat.  Snooty was fearless.  He thought everything and everybody belonged to him.  He would jump into open windows and sleep with neighbors or walk right into their doors yawling to be petted.  He would leap up and grab a sandwich straight from your mouth or run across the top of a table full of people to grab a steak before anyone knew what was happening.  He wasn't skittish or jumpy like most cats.  Not even crowds or loud noises seemed to bother him.  In college, I once walked into a crowded keg party down the street and saw Snooty there in the middle of it all.  He was sitting on the bar of the kitchen while fifteen drunken fraternity guys played quarters and screamed all around him.  Later, when I tried to take him home, he kept jumping out of my arms and running back into the house.  Apparently there was still beer in the keg, and Snooty wasn't ready to go home.
