Some word about the painting: 

I keep working from the same simple sketch because I am experimenting with color layering.  Some colors are transparent and semi-transparent, so it is possible to get radically different effects simply by the sequence of the layers or by varying the thickness via dilution or coverage via dry-brush techniques.  By using the same simple image repeatedly, I can focus on these variables without distraction.  I find this particular image mysterious and fascinating, so all the repetition doesn't get boring for me.  I never seem to capture the feeling just right, so I try again.
