"Cypress Bayou 2" contemporary figurative painting

"Cypress Bayou 2" is painted from memories of ancient cypress trees in the Delta. The painting is definitely a milestone.  It seems the more I learn, the more rapidly I learn, or at least I seem to be getting an exponential return on my effort compared to when I first started. I am still studying various Fauvists, but I think I have begun to understand how I can use intense colors expressively in my own painterly style.  I think this will enable me to paint impressionistic landscapes in a way that captures the excitement in what I see, especially when I return home to Mississippi.
